What is a prayer journal?
To me, when I think “prayer journal” I think “a journal of prayers” which means to me, that everything that was prayed would be recorded in the journal.
And yet, a quick search for the term “prayer journal” on the web yields that idea that some people seem to have that a prayer is a prayer request and that a prayer journal is really a journal of prayer requests.
To me, this is a very different thing. I don’t want to just keep a laundry list of everything to pray for, and to go through that when praying like it was just another to-do list to check off. To mean that hardly sounds like “praying from the heart”. But maybe this has value for others – I don’t mean to say it can’t or won’t – I just mean to say that I don’t think I can see the value it would have for me right now.
To me, a prayer journal would be a journal of the words offered up to God in prayer. As if I were writing the prayers instead of (or in addition to) saying them.
To that end, I offer the following link to my prayer journal ( prayer blog ).

I do so not in the interest of gaining fame or attention. I do so so that I might know that others can/will be looking at it, and thus to encourage me in another goal of mine: to pray every day.
I also offer it as an example of what a prayer journal is to me.
