A rant about ranting and the difficulty thereof
So, some people use their blogs mainly for ranting. The blog/announcement posts that accompany online comics such as MegaTokyo usually are referred to as rants. Presumably this is because one can’t/doesn’t usually write on such things for many purposes other than to rant.
This is, I went did a Google search for “anatomy of a rant” and didn’t actually find anything about how to rant (in the online comic meaning of the word, which is what I had in mind), other than an indication that generalization is part of the anatomy of a rant. Of course, if that were the sole part, then by definition everyone that ranted would come across as a close-minded stereotyping bigot, right? Such lies the consequences of excessive generalization, right? The fact that every now and then I run across a blog that is nothing but such ranting and that they do come across that way does not destroy my hope that there is more to ranting than just generalization.
