who/what/how “I really am”
So, I was searching for Nickleback’s “How You Remind Me” but I didn’t know it, and I had misheard the what I really am as “who I really am” or “how I really am”. Searching for those, I came across a number of good lyrics such as Iron Maiden’s “The Unbeliever”, although when I went to listen to their music on the iTunes Music Store, I must admit that I doubted my ability to actually hear their lyrics. This is happening to me a lot these days….
Along the way, as I was searching for “who I really am” or “how I really am” I came across some nifty sites that I want to share with you all.
- Who Killed Teresa and accompanying blog about one man’s quest to find who really killed his sister. Serious real-life drama, not a light read. Great if you wanted more reason to be skeptical of “the system”.
- LeechWife at Columbia’s discussion on why she joined Suicide Girls (not a work safe link). An excellent exposition of attitudes increasingly prevalent amongst the younger generation.
- Jon, talking about how he misses the now dead Amy. Again, a great example of human pathos, just like Charles tribute to Jules (which I found on a different excursion on the web).
- Cherylann Hawk’s “Bare Earth”, specifically, the lyrics to “Truth Changes” (RealAudio clip available, but the lyrics that aren’t in the clip are worth reading).
There’s just a huge variety of human experience out there, and a huge variety of expression of soul searching. Some through song, some through seeking the truth in a reality that sometimes seems lacking in truth. This is all good stuff, but it is bad they all had to go through what put them there. The light shines in the darkness, and the darker the darkness, the brighter the shine. I love the light, but unfortunately, I have yet to determine how to share it with you without sharing the darkness as well.
High contrast gives me a headache.
